Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) secures the access to your account.

Enabling two-factor authentication

Enabling two-factor authentication can only be done in the Mailo Secure Cloud web interface. First you need to choose with which app you will get your authentication codes. The Mailo Secure Cloud app is recommended, but you can also configure an independent 2FA app, such as: FreeOTP (iOS or Android), Authy or LastPass Authenticator (iOS), Authenticator (Windows 10 and 11), OTP Manager (MacOS), Gauth or Oathtool (Linux).

  • To enable two-factor authentication using the Mailo Secure Cloud app:
    • open the app on your smartphone
    • choose "Options" in the menu, then "Authentication code" and get a 6-digit authentication code
    • back in the web interface, copy the code and enter your password
  • To enable two-factor authentication using a 2FA app:
    • open the chosen app on your smartphone
    • scan the QR code displayed on Mailo Secure Cloud to add your account to your 2FA app
    • get a 6-digit authentication code
    • in the Mailo Secure Cloud web interface, copy the code and enter your password

When you enable two-factor authentication, you can add your device to the list of trusted devices. No more authentication code will be required on this device.

Using two-factor authentication

When two-factor authentication is enabled, an authentication code is required every time you connect to Mailo Secure Cloud from a new device. You get this code in the application you have chosen when enabling two-factor authentication.

When you authenticate on a new device, you can add it to the list of trusted devices. No more authentication code will be required on this device.

The list of trusted devices can be seen in the Mailo Secure Cloud web interface. You can remove a device from this list at any time.

Warning! If you lose or change your smartphone, or if you uninstall the Mailo Secure Cloud app or your 2FA app, you could be blocked. In that case, go back to the Mailo Secure Cloud web interface to get an authentication code, to reconfigure a 2FA app or to disable two-factor authentication temporarily.

Disabling two-factor authentication

You can disable two-factor authentication in the Mailo Secure Cloud web interface.
